It's well-known among my friends that I am capable of some spectacularly bad decisions when it comes to my personal life. This isn't really an example of such, but it's why I'm really mad at myself right now and it does illustrate just how stupid I can be: I had several major items on my agenda for this week, such as doing my taxes, doing my laundry, logging show footage in Final Cut, and writing for sit and spin. Yesterday, after dicking around the house for several hours, unable to decide what to do first, I settled on doing my laundry and seeking out tax forms at the library in Greenpoint. It was raining, and I had mounds and mounds of laundry to do, but I figured I was being stoic by sucking it up and piling that shit on my bike handlebars. After putting the laundry in, I rode in the chilly rain up to Greenpoint, to find the library closed (Valentine's Day? Is it possible that Valentine's is a holiday? UPDATE: no, it's always closed on Mondays). I tried my bank - no luck, because it was after 3pm, thanks to my earlier lollygagging. By the time I picked up my laundry, the light chilly rain had turned to a hard freezing rain, and I was drenched, and right pissed off, by the time I got home. So pissed that I had no inclination to sit in front of my computer, and instead watched season 2 of the Office, feeling myself get sick. Now, today, it's 50 degrees out, not raining, and I have no reason to leave the house, in fact I have several reasons to stay in, having gotten myself sick by riding around in the rain all yesterday being one. Why didn't I just check the fucking weather and the library schedule online, and decide to do my laundry today, logging footage yesterday? Because I am fucking stupid. It's the same frantic confusion I was talking about earlier I think... too much to do, don't know where to start. Only maybe it has nothing to do with too much talent, but rather too little practical intelligence. Hmmm. Probably boring to you either way.
